Our Story

Hi! We are Jim and Grace Cramond, the founders and owners of Strains of the Earth.

Our journey began nearly a decade ago when Jim started working for a CBD company in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Through that experience, he developed a deep understanding of the potential benefits of hemp and cannabis and became passionate about helping others improve their quality of life through plant-based wellness. That passion soon became personal!

After a health incident involving our oldest son, we began exploring CBD as part of his wellness journey. Seeing the positive impact it had on our family reinforced what Jim had been learning and inspired us to educate others about the potential benefits of hemp and cannabis. What started as a personal experience quickly grew into a lifelong mission.

In 2019, we launched Strains of the Earth as an online retailer focused on providing high-quality hemp-derived products and trusted education. As Minnesota's cannabis laws evolved, so did our business.

We opened our first retail location in 2021 and expanded both our storefront and product offerings in 2022. As the industry continued to evolve, we remained committed to compliance, education, and serving our community responsibly.

In November 2025, Strains of the Earth proudly became a licensed cannabis retailer through the OCM, marking an exciting new chapter for our company. Today, we continue to build on the values that started this journey—integrity, education, compassion, and providing safe, high-quality cannabis products in a welcoming environment.
